design

The perfect outfit effortlessly combines the bride’s personal style with her overall vision for the wedding. Working together we can discuss a range of design ideas and sketch out options for a bespoke dress or separates. We can use online tools, like Pinterest, to collate our ideas and drive the decision making process. Trying on a variety of off the peg styles before commissioning a garment from scratch can also really help to focus the design direction.

fitting

Using the brides body measurements and the initial design idea I make up a first toile in calico. In the first fitting we can develop the design, talking about how we will structure the garment to achieve the look and the comfort needed. There’s still room for creativity at this stage and we can play with different ideas, adding or taking away fabric from the toile.

fabric sourcing

London is a fantastic place to shop for fabrics; from the high-end stores of soho, to the bottomless Aladdins’ caves of Shepherds’ Bush and Goldhawk Road, to the plethora of online suppliers. Together with the bride I can help to source a choice of suitable fabrics for any design idea and discuss what benefits each option could contribute to the final garment.
